Ski Patrol Refresher

Press Release Date: Nov-1-2008

The Beech Mountain Ski Patrol completed the annual Outdoor Emergency Care Refresher course on Saturday, November 1st. This weekend typically marks the beginning of ski season for the Beech Mountain patrollers. They wrapped up the weekend with a chairlift evacuation exercise and a landing zone refresher with Wings Air Rescue from East Tennessee. Everyone was excited to see snow still on the ground and there was plenty of enthusiastic talk about changes at Beech and the anticipation of a new ski season. There were some who were tempted to try out the snow; in fact, a couple of kids did get out and slide around.

The Beech Mountain Ski Patrol is registered with the National Ski Patrol which is a volunteer organization. Members complete an Outdoor Emergency Care Course and then refresh their skills annually prior to ski season. Members come from all walks of life and share in the desire to serve the skiing public and to promote skier safety. If you are ever in need of assistance, feel free to call on any one of the patrollers at Beech Mountain.
