Resort Upgrades

Press Release Date: Sep-17-2008

Two mornings in a row with lows in the 40’s and the feel of fall is in the air. Fall begins on Monday, September 22nd, and winter weather is not far behind. We have work crews busy preparing for the upcoming season, and we are in the final stages of work converting the Oz chairlift splicing a new cable and getting ready to install the new chairs. The converted lift will be a fixed grip quad chairlift allowing us to move people quicker and more comfortably back to the top of the Oz Run.

Adding material and re-grading of our new tubing area is still in progress but is drawing close to completion. Our ice skating rental and ticketing shop has been relocated adjacent to Munchies on the upper side of the ice rink and that should make for a more pleasant guest experience with concessions, arcade, and a nice view of the rink. In our village this winter will be an outdoor fire pit adding to the ambience of the winter experience where folks can gather to warm by the fire and share stories about their day on the mountain.

We have rearranged our equipment rental operation so that all rentals, including groups, will be in the rental building beside the slopes. We will still have demo rentals available in the Ski Beech Sports Shop near the Quad lift in our village where you can treat yourself to some freshly tuned high performance skis and snowboards.

We are expecting delivery of two new Pisten Bully 400 grooming machines this month, which will add to our excitement for the upcoming season. Those of us here at Beech Mountain Resort are looking forward to the new ski season with eager anticipation.

It is not too late to start preparing for the ski and snowboard season with some pre-season training. There several resources available for ideas about training for skiing and snowboarding, one of which is www.adventuresportsonline.com. Be sure to consult a physician before taking on a strenuous training program, but being in good condition when you ski or snowboard can help prevent muscle soreness and injury, and it can make for a more enjoyable experience.
