2008-2009 Ski Season Update

The 2008-2009 ski season is drawing closer day by day. There have been several mornings lately with a cool feel in the air that has caused an anxious excitement in hopes of an early season. Our Season Passes are now available for purchase on-line and there is a discount if purchased by October 15th. Coupon Books and Gift Certificates are available on-line as well.
With the refreshing new attitude of our management team, this season could prove to be one of our better ones in recent years. We plan to put a strong emphasis on providing a great skiing and riding experience. To help provide that experience, we hired two brothers from Banner Elk who learned the art of grooming snow in Breckenridge, Colorado. They have decided to return home and take over the grooming responsibilities at Beech Mountain Ski Resort, and we have ordered two new PistenBully 400’s for them to operate as they prepare our slopes creating a wonderful surface for all of us to enjoy.
We are extremely excited about adding a second terrain park on the mountain this year. Our new terrain park will be an advanced area accessed by its own private lift. We are grading the old tubing run to create natural groundwork for unique jump, rail and box setups. We are bringing back the entire park staff from last year and we plan to add additional staff creating a park staff that will be larger than ever before.
Our original park on the Meadows will feature beginner-intermediate rail and box setups with small rollers for introducing skiers and riders to terrain park features. This should be a great place for all abilities to practice new tricks or to just get introduced to terrain park etiquette.
Beech Mountain Ski Resort is proud to announce our partnership with Edge of the World Snowboard Shop to introduce our competition schedule. We have teamed up to bring competitions throughout the season which will include rail jams, slope style, big air and boarder cross events. Check out Edge of the World’s annual snowboard party in Banner Elk on Saturday, November 1st, for more information on all the events going on this season.
