Beech Mountain Adaptive Snowsports Center (BASC)

Program History

Our program is one of the furthest south adaptive programs that reaches out to over a 100 people each year. Our program is volunteer based and teaches kids and adults with disabilities how to ski and snowboard with the right skills applied depending on the disability. Our goal is to give everyone regardless of ability the opportunity to do and reach beyond their goals and dreams without any limitations. Over the past 29 years, Ski Beech has hosted the annual 4-day "Adaptive Learn to Ski and Race Clinic" sponsored by the Disabled Sports USA and the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center. In the 1999-2000 season the Beech Mountain Adaptive Snowsports Center was created to provide a full season of adaptive snowsports opportunities for a large number of participants.

Adaptive Snowsports Lessons

The center offers one hour as well as half day lessons. Participants must call ahead to ensure proper equipment availability with an adaptive instructor and volunteers to assist with the lesson.

Sit-Down Snowsports

Mono-ski and Bi-ski equipment is available for bucketing, tethering, and independent skiing with a trained instructor.

Stand-Up Snowsports

Three-Track, Four-Track, Snowboard and Ski Visually Impaired, Cognitive Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, Amputees, and more are offered as well.

We are currently in the process of collecting any monetary donations to contribute to an ongoing education and scholarship fund for participants who are in need financially. Please make checks payable to:
